If you feel your heart calling you to share a few words with your adoptive child, now is the perfect time to pour your thoughts onto paper. You don’t need to be a master of the pen—the most important thing is that everything should come straight from your heart. Consider writing your letter in English, as this is the language the children are learning.
You can also include a few photos of your family in the letter. Kids love looking at the faces of those who remember them!
If you’re hoping for a reply, include a return envelope with your address and a blank sheet of paper. However, remember: we don’t pressure the kids to respond to letters. We want them to feel that they want to reply on their own.
