Amanda is a child of joy. The smile never leaves her face. She loves people. She is happy when someone hugs her, strokes her face or simply holds her hand. We are convinced that if she were free of her ailing body, she would jump, dance, sing at the top of her voice, run through the meadow, pick flowers, talk to the birds and hug every person she met on her way. Such is our Anne of Green Gables.
She is, however, constrained by her ailing body. This is the only reason this beautiful soul can’t do all these wonderful, beautiful things. But Amanda doesn’t stop smiling anyway, as if to tell us: I love my life anyway, I am grateful for it and as long as I can, I will smile. I will enjoy life as much as I can.
That’s just the way our darling star is. If you could get an Oscar for smiling, we have no doubt who the statuette would go to.
We are worried because Amanda’s breathing is getting weaker and weaker. She has a severely crooked spine, which means that one lung no longer works at all. The other is working less and less. If it wasn’t for the daily rehabilitation, the girl might be in a much worse condition. Please remember that it is only with your support that we can help her. Thank you for making it possible for us to look at that beautiful smile!
A school kit includes notebooks, allowing children to study at home. It also includes a pair of shoes, which, if not for Kasisi, they would have to borrow from their siblings. And finally, a delicious, healthy sandwich in the backpack, which gives them the energy they need for their studies. Just like the sandwich their mother would prepare. You can pack one into their backpack today—from right here, from your own home.
