“I am so happy that the children are going to have this library,” Sister Mariola wrote underneath the photos sent to us of the newly-built building for Kasisi readers.
The library was a big dream for the kids. They needed a space where they could sit and read quietly. It will also be a great place for them to study. And those who prefer to read in their room, in the courtyard, or in bed before they go to sleep, will be able to borrow a book.
Today there will be a big book move. The library space is huge. Our book collection, which up to now had seemed quite large, will now, among so many shelves, be only a small part of what could be found on the new-smelling bookshelves, longing to be filled.
The result is a huge, modern space and lots of shelves to fill. And you know what? We know it can be done. Because you have shown us more than once that EVERYTHING IS POSSIBLE!
“Reading books is the most beautiful pastime that mankind has invented”, said the Polish Nobel Prize winner Wislawa Szymborska. So what do you say? Shall we invite the kids of Kasisi to this extraordinary pastime today?
To start with, we want to buy 1,000 books. Each of you who supports our bookworms and places your book on a shelf in the new library can write a dedication to the kids. We will transfer it onto bookmarks that will serve the kids and remind them of you.
Buy a book, send a dedication to [email protected] and celebrate with us.
A school kit includes notebooks, allowing children to study at home. It also includes a pair of shoes, which, if not for Kasisi, they would have to borrow from their siblings. And finally, a delicious, healthy sandwich in the backpack, which gives them the energy they need for their studies. Just like the sandwich their mother would prepare. You can pack one into their backpack today—from right here, from your own home.
