Every day, children whose lives have been challenging from the very beginning come to Kasisi. Abandoned and left by those who should have loved them the most, they come to our home with hearts full of pain and uncertainty.
This was also the case for Gabriela, whose mother decided to leave her in the hospital right after giving birth, and Malumbo, a boy abandoned on one of the streets in Lusaka. Each of these little souls brought with them a story full of sorrow. Their mothers chose to give them life, but nothing beyond that. There was no joyful welcome into the world, no carefully prepared nurseries. We do not judge the women who brought these children into the world. Perhaps it was the hardest decision of their lives, maybe they had no other choice. Perhaps their hearts broke into a million pieces as they looked at their children for the last time.
We have already assured Gabriela and Malumbo of our love. We will do everything to give them what they have been missing. In Kasisi, they are no longer alone – they became part of a big family that will always be there for them, ready to support and love. This is a place where their hearts can finally find peace and happiness.
