Today, on the occasion of International No Hitting Day, we are joining appeals around the world to put a stop to violence against children. Physical punishment is devastating to a child’s psyche and sense of safety, the foundation upon which its entire world rests. We’ve seen the effects firsthand – many, many times.
It’s not enough to draw attention to this issue. At Kasisi, we do so much more for children who’ve experienced violence. Every day, inch by inch, we pull them over onto the bright side of life. We help them regain trust and restore their sense of self-worth. The children we look after have been through some of the worst imaginable experiences: abandoned in bushes, roadsides, public toilets and at bus stops as well as victims of human trafficking. When we see them smile and unfold their curiosity and creativity, we know that anything is possible with your support.
Based on the bright smile on Shalom’s face, you would never guess what she’s been through. At Kasisi, her difficult memories have given way to big dreams of travel and becoming a nurse, dreams that were born in the loving home created by the sisters of Kasisi and supported by you.
Today is a great occasion to remind the children of Kasisi that they are loved and safe and that we will always take care of them. We want to make sure they know that they are safe now.
The generosity you show by supporting the Adoptions from the Heart program can help a vulnerable child’s biggest dream – of having a loving, nurturing family – come true. At Kasisi, we’ve created a family that makes every child feel special, that heals its wounds through the tremendous amount of love and care shown every day. A family that will offer the support to create a better future.
Don’t wait any longer, show that you care by supporting Adoptions from the Heart!
A school kit includes notebooks, allowing children to study at home. It also includes a pair of shoes, which, if not for Kasisi, they would have to borrow from their siblings. And finally, a delicious, healthy sandwich in the backpack, which gives them the energy they need for their studies. Just like the sandwich their mother would prepare. You can pack one into their backpack today—from right here, from your own home.
