Kasisi is a home for children, yet its eldest residents are now grown women. On this International Women’s Day, we wish them all the best ❤️ Some have been in Kasisi since their earliest days, while others arrived when they were a few years old. However, who they have become today – wonderful, hardworking, compassionate people – is thanks to the Sisters who taught them the meaning of gratitude, empathy, and honesty. They grew up in a home that gave them solid foundations.
As evening falls, and Sister Mariola has not yet returned to the House of Mercy, where she lives with the oldest girls, a group with flashlights sets out to search for her. When during their last visit to Kasisi, Agnieszka and Kinga were updating information about the children with the Sister, Esnart along with Cecylia and Joyce “barged” into the office with a request – they asked if they could kindly let Sister Mariola come home, as it was already 9:00 PM and they were waiting for her ☺️ The girls can’t sleep until they have at least a short conversation with the Sister. Then they sit back relaxed and share how their day went, what was fun, and what was challenging.
There’s no one they trust as much as Sister Mariola. They know that even if they do the silliest thing, Mom will always be there for them. Always ready to support with a kind word in a tough moment, but also capable of being strict when they mess up. It’s all out of love. Because a good mother is one who can love, set boundaries, and call to order when needed. It is the Sister who teaches them how to be real women who know their own worth.
This is our wish for you all on International Women’s Day. Be kind to yourselves!!! And if you want to do something for our young women in Kasisi, we invite you to do some shopping for Kasisi. Reach for Women’s Day Chocolates, a special gift that will bring immense joy to each of them ❤️
A school kit includes notebooks, allowing children to study at home. It also includes a pair of shoes, which, if not for Kasisi, they would have to borrow from their siblings. And finally, a delicious, healthy sandwich in the backpack, which gives them the energy they need for their studies. Just like the sandwich their mother would prepare. You can pack one into their backpack today—from right here, from your own home.
