Sometimes all we can do for a little one is to give them their first and last loving Home.
Our Emmanuel died today, on his first birthday – the news struck us like a bolt of lightning.
Every death of a child is a huge tragedy in Kasisi. At the Home, we try to do everything we can to provide the children with the best nutrition, medical facilities, doctors’ care and treatments, but we do not always win with death. The boy suffered from a congenital heart defect, which meant that he had to undergo major surgery in his first months of life.
We ask you today to send warm thoughts to Emmanuel who, we firmly believe, thanks to you, has learned what love and a true Home are. For this, we thank you very much.
We also want to ask you to keep your fingers crossed for Gabriel, who needs your support! The boy returned to hospital yesterday – the initial diagnosis is tuberculosis combined with renal insufficiency.
Gabriel is under the care of the best specialists in Lusaka, but the course of the hunger disease the boy suffers from is insidious. The children’s condition often seems to stabilise, but this is when numerous complications mercilessly attack the weakened body. We will keep you up to date, so keep visiting our website in the coming days. We would very, very much like the coming news to be nothing but optimistic.
Love does not die – let us remember these words of Fr Twardowski on this difficult day.
A school kit includes notebooks, allowing children to study at home. It also includes a pair of shoes, which, if not for Kasisi, they would have to borrow from their siblings. And finally, a delicious, healthy sandwich in the backpack, which gives them the energy they need for their studies. Just like the sandwich their mother would prepare. You can pack one into their backpack today—from right here, from your own home.
