It was March, a beautiful sunny day. Kasisi was buzzing with life and joy as usual. On the other side of the gate stood two small figures, their eyes filled with fear and sadness. They didn’t know that life could be different, that what they had experienced so far was not normal, that a child could live without worries and fear.
Natasha was a month old, and this is her great fortune, for she probably remembers very little today. Eight-year-old Rachel, unfortunately, remembers everything vividly. Their father, who increasingly crossed boundaries, and their mother, who, despite her best intentions, couldn’t protect her daughters. When the mother passed away, her family wanted to take care of the girls, but they couldn’t come to an agreement. The children’s well-being was not their priority.
The girls ended up in care centers, and so Rachel and Natasha found themselves in Kasisi, while their oldest sister, already a teenager, was placed in a center for abused girls. We hope that one day they will be together again. They miss their mother dearly. They believe that especially today, on Mother’s Day, she is watching over them. We have already promised Natasha and Rachel that here, every day will begin with sunshine, and they will hear no more thunder. That they will receive as much love as they need, and we’ll take care of their worries.
