The 21st of March, the first day of spring, is also a celebration of extraordinarily beautiful people. They carry spring inside them and pass it on to the world with their sincere smiles. They not only have an extra chromosome, but also a lot more love to give out.
On World Down Syndrome Day, we want to remind you that Kasisi is home to a wonderful little girl whose mum has been overwhelmed by this third extra chromosome. She abandoned her baby. Fortunately, Angela came to us and we immediately loved her with all her “excess baggage”.
She has been with us for over 7 years. Today she is almost a teenager who loves to eat and is a big fan of biscuits.
Angela is under the care of a cardiologist all the time because she has a congenital heart defect, as is usual for children with Down Syndrome. When playing with the kids, despite the challenges she never gives up. She always fights until the end. She is very active, happy and never stops smiling. She loves to cuddle.
Today, show Angela that you are with her.
Wear colourful socks, unmatched, synonymous with social and genotypic mismatch – a symbol of Down Syndrome. You can also gift Angela with her beloved biscuits.
May this day be joyful and colourful
A school kit includes notebooks, allowing children to study at home. It also includes a pair of shoes, which, if not for Kasisi, they would have to borrow from their siblings. And finally, a delicious, healthy sandwich in the backpack, which gives them the energy they need for their studies. Just like the sandwich their mother would prepare. You can pack one into their backpack today—from right here, from your own home.
