Kasisi is life. When you cross the doorstep of the HOME you can hear the kids’ laughter. Today, however, it is a little harder to smile. When we landed in Lusaka, Sister Mariola gave us the sad news.
Divine had passed away from us after a long and uneven battle. It seemed that the boy was already recovering. We had managed to pull him out of his hunger disease. Now he was just going to gain weight and enjoy his childhood. Thank you for being with him, for fighting for him. His emaciated body just couldn’t take it.
And although it is difficult to smile today, Kasisi did not stop living. Therefore, grateful for Divine’s existence, we wipe away the tears and move on.
A school kit includes notebooks, allowing children to study at home. It also includes a pair of shoes, which, if not for Kasisi, they would have to borrow from their siblings. And finally, a delicious, healthy sandwich in the backpack, which gives them the energy they need for their studies. Just like the sandwich their mother would prepare. You can pack one into their backpack today—from right here, from your own home.
