Sometimes real superheroes live in the hearts of young children fighting great battles.
Looking at the smiling Mable and Anna. It’s hard to believe that not so long ago, the childhood of these superheroes was completely different.
A careful observer will notice that Mable’s smile is always uneasy. It is never as free as the wide smiles of children who have experienced the boundless love of their parents early in life. The girl came to Kasisi in 2020 – that’s when she was taken from the hospital where she was admitted as a result of domestic violence. It is hard to imagine what an 8-year-old child must feel when she is hurt in this way by the people closest to her – her father and stepmother. Fortunately, you have given her the safe home and love she deserves!
Due to her trauma, Mable was placed in a special class – she is an extremely sensitive girl who needs extra attention, support and patience.
The hard work has paid off. After only 3 months of one-to-one education, Mable has already started understanding instructions in English, cooperating with her tutor, and playing games that develop concentration, memory and logical thinking. The pace of progress is astounding – recently it turned out that she is our memory game master. All we had to do was teach her the rules!
The second girl, Anna, will most often be seen doing a jigsaw puzzle.
She came to the Kasisi Home straight after being born premature, very underweight and with cerebral palsy. It is a miracle that she is alive, but we have already seen other miracles in Kasisi! In a small body there is a big soul. Thanks to intensive physiotherapy exercises from the first days, the girl started walking. The earlier problems are practically gone! Anna still has difficulty concentrating, performing certain tasks, understanding teaching instructions and rewriting words, but she is getting better at logical thinking. What’s more, she has even started doing simple maths tasks and reading stories. This is a HUGE success that would not have been possible without your daily support!
The special toys you donated to Kasisi in December are already having a real impact and allowing our superheroes to spread their wings!
Today, the biggest challenge for the girls is to be able to understand instructions, so we are asking you to fund specialised help, namely learning through play! Let the shelves of our TOYS & FUN shop be filled with creative and speech therapy toys that will help Mable, Anna and the other children overcome all the challenges!
A school kit includes notebooks, allowing children to study at home. It also includes a pair of shoes, which, if not for Kasisi, they would have to borrow from their siblings. And finally, a delicious, healthy sandwich in the backpack, which gives them the energy they need for their studies. Just like the sandwich their mother would prepare. You can pack one into their backpack today—from right here, from your own home.
