A few days ago, our charges in Kasisi were visited by staff from one of Zambia’s banks and the Hungry Lion restaurant. They did not come empty-handed, oh no. They brought us 250 fruit trees: avocados, oranges, lemons, papayas and many other exotic goodies.
Together, as much as we could, we planted tree after tree, with our eyes already visualising the juicy fruit ripening in the sun….
It will still be a while before we can pick them. So for the time being, after a lot of hard work the kids ate chicken and chips, sponsored by the African fast food company Hungry Lion. The kids couldn’t hide their joy at such a lunch.
It was a good day. It was tasty, fun and very ECO.
A school kit includes notebooks, allowing children to study at home. It also includes a pair of shoes, which, if not for Kasisi, they would have to borrow from their siblings. And finally, a delicious, healthy sandwich in the backpack, which gives them the energy they need for their studies. Just like the sandwich their mother would prepare. You can pack one into their backpack today—from right here, from your own home.
