It’s a challenging time in Zambia. Since the end of last year, the country has been battling a cholera epidemic. Torrential rains cause contaminated water to mix with sources of clean water. Suddenly, a sip of water becomes a deadly threat. Although life goes on as usual, people are yet again afraid of each other. Everyone uses disinfectants and people are very wary of each other.
Our children’s holidays were supposed to end in late December, but for safety reasons, they have been extended by two months. Now, as the situation somewhat stabilizes, they can finally return to school.
Can you imagine if the disease reached our Home?! The Sisters heroically fought to prevent this. Water testing, changing the rules for allowing outsiders to Kasisi, securing a supply of meds, and increased disinfection of the entire space. This is a really serious undertaking and… unfortunately, a significant expense. We want to prevent rather than have to treat. We also have to prepare in case of illness. We need to quickly rebuild the medical and sanitary readiness of our Home. There’s no time to waste!
Support emergency services on our website and help replenish their budget. We’re not asking for luxuries, we’re asking for safety for our kids!
A school kit includes notebooks, allowing children to study at home. It also includes a pair of shoes, which, if not for Kasisi, they would have to borrow from their siblings. And finally, a delicious, healthy sandwich in the backpack, which gives them the energy they need for their studies. Just like the sandwich their mother would prepare. You can pack one into their backpack today—from right here, from your own home.
