Amanda 15 y/o

17
Birthday: 15.09.2009
With Kasisi since: 17.11.2016

Amanda is a child of joy. Her smile never fades. She loves people, delights in hugs, a gentle touch on her face, or just holding hands. If she could break free from her ailing body, she’d probably be jumping, dancing, singing loudly, running through meadows, picking flowers, chatting with birds, and hugging every person she meets—she’s our own Anne of Green Gables. However, cerebral palsy puts harsh limitations on her. Only regular rehabilitation eases her discomfort slightly. Both of her parents have passed away, making Kasisi her only family.

How am I doing?

OCTOBER 2024
Always cheerful and full of joy, she knows how to appreciate every moment. Her remarkable strength and optimism mean that, despite facing many challenges, she always radiates positive energy.
FEBRUARY 2024
The illness is progressing significantly. The girl has breathing difficulties, but she still smiles. She attends preschool classes three days a week and really enjoys drawing.
JULY 2023
Amanda is such a loving child that she can make you melt. She smiles all the time. We are worried about her because her breathing is getting weaker and weaker. One lung no longer works at all, the other very weakly.
DECEMBER 2022

She is very cheerful. She is happy when someone visits her. She always greets her visitors with a smile. She is still in rehabilitation. She has a curved spine and only one functioning lung.

AUGUST 2022

Amanda is very keen to attend the home daycare. She loves being with the children. She continues her physiotherapy. She enjoys watching TV; then her joy has no limits.

OCTOBER 2021
Amanda is doing very well. She has been under intensive rehabilitation for three years and takes part in therapeutic activities. She loves music, playing instruments and recently it turned out that drawing and solving jigsaw puzzles bring her a lot of joy. Despite her illness, Amanda understands a lot. During the classes she fights focusedly for every millimetre of free movement, trying to show us that what limits her is only her body. Her smile is probably the biggest in all of Kasisi and lightens all sadness and gloomy faces.
JUNE 2021
Amanda goes to kindergarten three times a week. She is learning to draw and also takes part in physical activities. She likes to joke around a lot and is always smiling. Nobody visits her.
MAY 2019
She may not walk or talk but she understands everything. Her body needs help catching up with her mind. With continued daily physical therapy, Amanda is beginning to have use of her arms. She is a very intelligent girl.

Urgent help needed

Passport to the Future – Donate a School Starter Kit

A school kit includes notebooks, allowing children to study at home. It also includes a pair of shoes, which, if not for Kasisi, they would have to borrow from their siblings. And finally, a delicious, healthy sandwich in the backpack, which gives them the energy they need for their studies. Just like the sandwich their mother would prepare. You can pack one into their backpack today—from right here, from your own home.
