Blessing, along with her younger sister Queen, was found at a hospital gate in Lusaka. The sisters who work there immediately took action. They fed the girls a warm meal and provided them with necessary financial help to return home. However, to their surprise, the girls appeared again at the hospital gate the next day. Deeply concerned, the sisters decided to take matters into their own hands and personally drove Blessing and Queen home to see the situation for themselves. Upon arrival, they discovered that the girls’ circumstances were far worse than expected. Their mother had passed away, and their father was nowhere to be found, with no contact since. The living conditions were dire, lacking basic necessities. The sisters contacted social services, and after assessing the situation, it was decided that Blessing and Queen should be placed in Kasisi. This gave the girls a chance for a new life filled with hope and opportunities.
A school kit includes notebooks, allowing children to study at home. It also includes a pair of shoes, which, if not for Kasisi, they would have to borrow from their siblings. And finally, a delicious, healthy sandwich in the backpack, which gives them the energy they need for their studies. Just like the sandwich their mother would prepare. You can pack one into their backpack today—from right here, from your own home.
