Until recently, she lived peacefully with her family. This changed, however, when someone set fire to their house. In December, after the incident, the youngest members of the family were taken to Kasisi, and she and her older siblings found refuge in another orphanage. There was no school there; the kids were not being educated. We decided to do everything so that the siblings could be together and function, as much as possible, normally, without interrupting their education.
The police found the perpetrators, but unfortunately the whole family was left homeless. They lived at a bus station. Now the children are with us and the parents with the eldest daughter, fearing for their lives, are living at the police station.
A school kit includes notebooks, allowing children to study at home. It also includes a pair of shoes, which, if not for Kasisi, they would have to borrow from their siblings. And finally, a delicious, healthy sandwich in the backpack, which gives them the energy they need for their studies. Just like the sandwich their mother would prepare. You can pack one into their backpack today—from right here, from your own home.
