Until recently, her life was peaceful, spent alongside a loving family. Everything changed overnight – their home was set on fire, and the world they knew collapsed in an instant. After the tragedy, the youngest children were taken to Kasisi, while she and her older siblings found shelter in another orphanage. Unfortunately, that place did not provide them with education or a sense of stability. The children didn’t attend school, and their daily lives were full of uncertainty. That’s when we decided to act. We did everything we could to reunite the siblings and give them a chance for a life that is peaceful and as normal as possible – one where they can learn, grow, and simply be together.
A school kit includes notebooks, allowing children to study at home. It also includes a pair of shoes, which, if not for Kasisi, they would have to borrow from their siblings. And finally, a delicious, healthy sandwich in the backpack, which gives them the energy they need for their studies. Just like the sandwich their mother would prepare.
