The boy arrived at Kasisi just before Christmas, when he was barely two months old. His mother, likely burdened with many life challenges, left him in the hospital, assuring the staff she would return quickly. She claimed she needed to visit relatives in the patient ward. Unfortunately, that “quick return” never happened. Instead, she left only a note with the child’s details, without providing any explanation or traces of her identity. No one came looking for him, and no one visited. He was then taken into the care of the Sisters at Kasisi. Despite having to cope with cerebral palsy and occasional epileptic seizures, his health has gradually begun to improve.
A school kit includes notebooks, allowing children to study at home. It also includes a pair of shoes, which, if not for Kasisi, they would have to borrow from their siblings. And finally, a delicious, healthy sandwich in the backpack, which gives them the energy they need for their studies. Just like the sandwich their mother would prepare. You can pack one into their backpack today—from right here, from your own home.
