Until recently, she lived peacefully with her family, enjoying daily life and simple joys. Their lives were relatively worry-free until everything suddenly changed. A tragic event occurred when someone deliberately set their house on fire, leaving the family homeless. In December, shortly after this dramatic incident, the youngest family members came to Kasisi, which was to become their new home. Ruth, along with her older siblings, found shelter in another orphanage. Unfortunately, the conditions there were far from ideal—lack of a school meant the children could not continue their education. We decided to do everything we could to keep the siblings together and allow them to function as normally as possible without interrupting their studies. It was important to us that their lives, despite the difficult circumstances, could return to stable footing. Meanwhile, the police managed to apprehend the arsonists, but the family remained without a home. For a while, they lived at a bus station. Currently, the children are with us at Kasisi, while their parents and the eldest daughter, fearing for their lives, live at the police station. Despite this challenging situation, Ruth has adapted surprisingly well. Though she may seem a bit shy at first glance, her natural ability to form relationships helped her make friends. She loves spending time playing with her peers and eagerly participates in various activities, always striving to avoid conflicts and tense situations.
A school kit includes notebooks, allowing children to study at home. It also includes a pair of shoes, which, if not for Kasisi, they would have to borrow from their siblings. And finally, a delicious, healthy sandwich in the backpack, which gives them the energy they need for their studies. Just like the sandwich their mother would prepare. You can pack one into their backpack today—from right here, from your own home.
