Yvonne’s story is one of life intertwined with tragic events but also unexpected moments of hope. She was brought to Kasisi at just one year old by an organization working with sex workers. Her mother has died, but from time to time, Yvonne did experience glimpses of family warmth. In one of those magical moments, her family emerged from the past, wanting to bring her into their home. However, for reasons unknown, they changed their minds. Currently, she studies at a boarding school and returns to Kasisi during holidays, always eager to help with various tasks. Her great passion and love is dance.

How am I doing?

OCTOBER 2024
This year, she’ll be taking her final exams—a significant step in her education. She has developed a passion for math, which has become her favorite subject. Given her interests, she is considering pursuing university studies in this field. Her determination and commitment to learning put her on a strong path toward achieving her goals.
JUNE 2024
She is in the twelfth grade and will graduate this year, which will mark an important milestone in her life. Over the years, she has matured into a responsible and trustworthy person. She is a kind girl, who’s always ready to help others and shows a lot of empathy.
JULY 2023
Yvonne is in the eleventh grade. She is performing excellently in school, which is a testament to her commitment and intelligence. She is keen to return to Kasisi for holidays. During these visits, she is extremely keen to get involved in helping with the little ones and in the kitchen, which shows her caring and ability to share her time with others.
JUNE 2021
She is in the ninth grade. She goes to a boarding school in the north of Zambia. She has grown up a lot and has become very responsible. She was contacted by her family and they wanted to take her in, but in the end nothing came of it.
SEPTEMBER 2020
Yvonne recently came down with the flu. She is hoping for a speedy recovery so that she can go back to school later this month, something she's very excited about. She's in the eighth grade and gets good grades.
JUNE 2016
She's in fifth grade and doing very well in school. She's incredibly passionate about dance.
JUNE 2015
She is part of the show choir. She enjoys helping sister Mariola in the laundromat.
